The ABCs of CBD in Texas

The A,B,Cs of CBD in Texas

The journey of CBD (cannabidiol) began in Texas with the passage of the US Farm Act in late 2018. This act legalized hemp cultivation in the United States and was cbd tropfen the precursor to individual state laws passed to legalize the buying and selling of cannabidiol -Products that don’t get you high. Texas followed the Farm Bill with its own bill, which passed in the summer of 2019. They, too, legalized the cultivation of hemp and the buying and selling of cannabidiol products. Texas farmers look forward to planting their first hemp crop of 2020, pending approval of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s release of rules and regulations for farmers registering to grow hemp.

Several other states including Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, North Carolina and Kentucky to name a few are a few years ahead of Texas and farmers there have been growing their hemp and selling it to processors who extract the cannabidiol and sell it as tinctures, topical and edible products for humans and pets. Farmers have switched from growing other crops like tobacco and cotton to growing hemp, with promises of doubling revenues from the newly approved crop.

Why is cannabidiol no longer a crime? What has changed? The problem was that hemp looks and smells exactly like its sister plant, marijuana, the notorious plant people use to get high. Consequently, hemp was banned along with marijuana by the United States in the 1930’s because law enforcement and others could not tell the difference between the two plants, so they threw the baby out with the bath water. It wasn’t corrected until 2018 when the Farm Bill was passed, restoring the legality of the hemp plant.

In fact, marijuana produces lower levels of cannabidiol than hemp. And hemp produces lower levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the chemical that gets you high. Consequently, the federal government has determined that cannabidiol is legal as long as it contains 0.3% or less in any cannabidiol product you purchase. You can verify this quantity through Certificates of Analysis (COAs) from independent third-party laboratories, which are published by the manufacturers and sellers of cannabidiol.

What’s all the fuss about CBD? Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant that has truly amazing properties such as: B. anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-nausea, muscle relaxant, antidepressant, anxiolytic and many other properties. It has been shown to reduce pain, help heal injuries, aid in sleep, and improve the overall health and well-being of humans and animals. Anecdotal evidence as well as scientific studies have shown the potential and effectiveness of taking cannabidiol to help with these diseases and improve health and well-being. More studies are ongoing and many more studies need to be done to improve our knowledge of cannabidiol and its effects.

Aside from cannabidio, there are many other compounds such as CBN, CBG, and many terpenes that are associated with flavors and smells of hemp. It’s an amazing plant. Historians say that hemp is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, plant cultivated by man. Archaeologists found hemp fibers in broken pottery shards in Taiwan 10,000 years ago. In China, rulers used a hemp extract for stomach and muscle pains, and throughout history hemp has been used for ropes, sails, building materials, and hemp seeds as a dietary supplement to the present day.

All of these compounds extracted from hemp can be used together as a very powerful healing agent known as the “entourage effect”. The sum of the parts is greater than each part individually. This is why scientists and entrepreneurs are so excited about cannabidiol and its potential.

Right now we are in the very early stages of hemp cultivation and cannabidiol development. This “green rush” could be in a ten to twenty year growth cycle. The Federal Drug Administration has yet to make a decision on the classification of cannabidiol, so there will be constant developments.

I started taking CBD about two years ago. I have struggled with anxiety and sleep issues for several years of my life and after hearing about cannabidiol I tried about 500mg of full spectrum tincture (one dropper full each night) and after a few weeks I noticed that my anxiety was diminished and my sleep quality had improved. I got more REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and woke up more refreshed and ready to face the challenges of the day. After a month I didn’t even notice the fear.

I then used the Cannabidiol Freeze Roll On for pain relief on my ankle and shoulder with great results. I have been dosing 500mg of cannabidiol isolate to my ten year old golden retriever, Riley, who was beginning to suffer from muscle and hip pain. I just put one dropper of the Isolate tincture in the water every morning and she seems to be more alert and walking around the garden again.

This raises the question of dosing. How do you know how much cannabidiol you need to be effective? In cannabidiol stores and e-commerce sites, I have seen dosages ranging from 20mg to 3000mg of cannbidiol in a 1 ounce bottle of tincture. The low dosages from 20 mg to 100 mg. probably won’t do much for you. 30 mg is one mg per day, which is practically nothing. I have found that you should start with a small to medium dose, around 500mg of cannabidiol, and see how that affects you over a period of two to three weeks. If it seems to be working for you, then your dosage is probably right. If you feel nothing is happening, increase the dosage to 700-1000 mg. Until more research is done on dosage, it’s really a “try and see” method for each individual.

To sum up, the CBD industry is developing rapidly around the world. We are moving out of the dark ages when the compound was wrongly classified as a crime, and into cbd tropfen the awakening of a new era where the potential benefits of cannabidiol are expanding and employment opportunities are accelerating daily. It’s time to forget the misplaced fears of the past and jump on the new train of health and wellness.
